Visa monitoring has identified an issue with VCAS Reporting on challenge transactions that experience timeouts (indicated by ChallengeCancel 04 or ChallengeCancel 05). This does not impact VCAS transaction processing or the merchant business decision on Auth Status results since the API response remains unchanged. These abandoned challenge transactions were previously marked with an authentication status of "MC" (Merchant Cancelled). However, they are now being reported as authentication status "N" (Not Authenticated).
A fix is scheduled to be implemented in staging on Monday, 28 April 2025 and production on Wednesday 30 April 2025. The fix will revert Challenge transactions that time out (challengeCancel 04 or challengeCancel 05) resulting in an Auth Status N (Not Authenticated) back to MC (Merchant Cancelled) in reporting going forward.
Reported Start Time: 18:00 UTC 21 April 2025
Impact: This affects reporting in VCAS Portal, and ReportingExtract TDR Auth Status results. This does not impact any transaction processing or merchant business decision on Auth Status results since API remains unchanged.
Next Update: We will provide an update once the permanent fix to reporting is applied Wednesday 30 April 2025
